October happenings.

 Monday, Oct 10

Mar's choir concert.

Mar transferred to Utah State after she and Jonah got married. She tried out for the Vocal Performance program and made it in! She also tried out for choir, and made it into the top choir - the USU Chamber Singers. This means we get to go to more choir concerts woot woot! Although we do have to make the lengthy drive to Logan to do so. It's worth it. It was so fun to attend a college choir concert - Bill and I agreed it was definitely a level up from high school :-)

In keeping with our usual choir concert tradition, we went out for a treat afterwards.
Culvers did not disappoint.

Tuesday, Oct 11
Our walk-up is going in.

Wednesday, Oct 12
A day with Shi, Cal, and Brooks.

That evening Bill and I drove to Bountiful to visit J's grave with my parents.

We miss you, Jana ♥

Saturday, Oct 15
Bill's dream comes true.

Thanks to Matt (and Larkin), Bill had the opportunity to "work" a U of U game. And this one was a big one. (I will add deets after I get them from Bill haha.)

This is a fundraiser for Larkin's school color guard to work as ushers at football games. According to Bill, the work was easy, and he wasn't even needed for half the game, but then got to help sweep the field of revelers after the game was over (the U won!). This was a nationally broadcast game, and Bill and Matt were both momentarily on screen after the game.

Thank you Matt and Larkin for allowing Bill to help you fundraise!

Monday, Oct 17
A day with Jill, mi mama y papa.

My parents drove Jill out to my house - she had flown in, and had scheduled a hair appointment with me. We took the opportunity to go to lunch at Cafe Rio (which was yummy, thankfully - the Castle Rock Cafe Rio was not great, so I hadn't gone for a while). Then we tried out the newly-opened Dirty Dough. We purchased four cookies and took them home to cut up and try all the flavors. I'm not a huge cookie person, so could not give a fair review, but they were tasty. The cookie market is so saturated here in UT, I really don't know how they can be sustainable. But that's coming from someone who only enjoys them occasionally.

It was a lovely day, so we took a walk to the temple.

We were so lucky to find an open gate (the front door of the temple was open, too, but we didn't dare go peek in). We loved being able to look up close. I was a little anxious that someone would come and kick us out, but no one did.

The view of our street from the back - or front - of the temple. (No one really knows which is which. The address of the temple gives the street you see in this picture, which seems like the back of the temple because the entrance is on the other side, the Angel Moroni faces the other side, and the parking is on the other side. So which is the front?)
It was a lovely day.

Tuesday, Oct 18
Bill's dad turns 77.

Happy Birthday, Big Billy! We love you ♥

Wednesday, Oct 19
Bunco night.

This was only the second time in my life I have played Bunco.

I had been invited several times since moving to UT, but either I already had something going on, or I had something more pressing come up. I had agreed to attend this one because 1) I didn't have anything going on, and 2) it was being hosted by my friend around the corner. It turned out to be a total bust, and has most likely ruined me for Bunco for the rest of my life. My friend was the only attendee from our neighborhood (and newly split-off ward from the rest of the attendees), and the other gals pretty much chatted about days gone by. I don't think anyone said more than a couple of words to me. It was WEIRD. I could go on about how our pre-split ward was huge, and the pre-existing neighborhood part of the ward was not super welcoming to all the newcomers from our neck of the woods, but it is all water under the bridge. But no more Bunco for me haha.

I made this fancy snack tray to take to the game night. I guess it wasn't Bunco-group-worthy because it was hardly touched.
It's fine. I'm fine, Everything's FINE.

Friday, Oct 21
Puzzling with Emmett.

Saturday, Oct 22
Gathering with our gold friends.

We drove with the Lunds out to Grantsville, picked up dinner, and went to the Lawrence's home to eat and catch up. I love these people. Heather has been in treatment for breast cancer for a long time, so it was nice to finally be able to get together. This is not the finest picture, but it's such a good memory.

Sunday, Oct 23
Scarlett and Ellis's Primary Program

I love being close enough to come!

And then it snowed.

Tuesday, Oct 25
Movie night with Bill Bill.

Bill had free tickets through work connections, so we went.
I think I'm pretty much over DC and Marvel movies. It was entertaining, but I just can't follow all the intricate intertwined story lines. Bill still loves them, but he can remember details and I can't.
I can't say no to a free date night, though ;-)

The relatives came.

Tay and Nae came to visit for a couple of weeks in July. It's always so fun when the cousins (i.e. grandkids) get together. Here's a quick rundown of the the fun we had while they were here.

Tuesday, July 5

We Ice shave ice - the best treat at the end of a hot day.

Wednesday, July 6

Hobby Lobby adventures:

It's always fun to take a bunch o' kids shopping {wink}, but the kids really enjoyed all the things at Hobby Lobby.

Thursday, July 7

The best kind of fun on a hot day - orbeez and a splash pad.
(So glad Britt and Austin let us keep this at our house)

If you look closely, you can see the water holding up the orbee (that's singular for orbeez haha).

I just realized that the slo-mo we had filmed this in did NOT transfer to the video. Much cooler in slo-mo haha.

Monday, July 11

Nora Jane. Ready to go.

Wednesday, July 13

The Train Park.

This park was so fun for kids of all ages. We loved how Brielle and Nora could do a lot by themselves, but there was also plenty of things to keep the older kids entertained. Britt told us that some days/times they have an actual train that the kids can ride that goes around the park.
The day was HOT.

After play time at the park we headed to Arctic Circle (with an indoor play area) to cool off.

Could this girl be any cuter?? Love her happy face so much!

Thursday, July 14

Lex told us about this great man-made reservoir, so we made plans to meet up there, grab some dinner on the way, and play in the sand and water.

The kids also loved the play area.

Our funny take-away: We had put our stuff on a couple of the tables in the pavilion when we arrived. As we were sitting there EATING dinner, an entire biking team piled into the pavilion with absolutely no regard for our personal space. It bordered on ridiculous. None of them seem to know what common sense/common courtesy is. Some were literally sitting on the benches to our tables. And they were LOUD. It was such a relief when they FINALLY got on their bikes and left.

Jason... why so serious? :-)

It may have rained on us for a bit, but we hung out as long as 1) the kids were having fun, and 2) we didn't see lightening. Afterwards we all went out for ice cream.

Friday, July 15

The guys went golfing.

That evening we set up the tent for a late movie night.

We got an extra large pizza from the Pie... so so good (and soooooo big).

The tent kept the attention of some of the kids for only a few minutes haha.

So I went and hung out with the kids not so interested in the show.

Scarlett and Ellis stuck it out.
Little Billy didn't quite make it to the end of the movie.

Kids + dirt = so. much. fun.

Saturday, July 16

Highland Glen Park and Brooks' first outing!
Also Tay and Nae's last day in UT.
I was so happy we could all get together!

I can't handle the cuteness of these feet.

Cal followed Ellis everywhere. It was so cute.

This girl melts my heart.

And this little guy... the sweetest thing ever:

Those darling long fingers ♥

I love these little people SO MUCH.
So blessed to be their Gigi ♥

(The hairy leg... so precious.)

Shi and Kody headed home (newborn demands), and the rest of us stopped by the local Hokulia for a shave ice treat.

It's the best when the relatives come and we get to spend time together as a family. I hope these are memories my grands will remember... even if it's only by looking through MY memories.
These are days not to be forgotten.
