Hurtling Forward.

I thought I would share a few quick pics from this past week.
Heaven knows if I don't do it now, it may never be captured, because life keeps hurtling forward. (Honestly, I should be cleaning house right now, but just finished printing tags for Father's Day gifts for the men in our ward, and can't leave without a quick post. The next three weeks are full to the brim of exciting things that will need documenting. I simply must keep as current as possible. And I'm a bit OCD about it.)

Mar had a swim meet on Saturday. She was a little concerned about swimming a 200Free (for the first time ever in competition), a 100Fly (she hasn't done more than a 50 since last year, even in practice), and her 50Free (initially the coach signed her up for a 200IM... we didn't think Mar had the stamina for a meet full of endurance races since she's practiced maybe 5 times since last summer). She did great, and due to a series of fortunate events, Bill and I got in 2 volunteer shifts and Mar was done with all of her races (including 2 relays) halfway through the meet. We were out of there by 11am. Woot! Woot!

(I didn't get many pics, since I was doing a volunteer shift, but I have to mention that we got another NEW{ish} camera. The one we purchased right before Lex's wedding was suddenly rendered unusable [okay, so I dropped it... on a carpeted floor... and the lens wouldn't close], so we sent it in to be "repaired or replaced." We received a different camera in return, and upon googling it, found it was worth twice as much as the one we sent in. I'm sure it's refurbished, but it's pretty dang nice, although I still need to figure out how to use the crazy thing. If I only had time to sit and read the manual. Hah!)

Lolo had a fun night out on her birthday with some girlfriends. Her friend Peyton came up from CoSprings where she just finished her first year at the Air Force Academy. Way to go, Peyton!

Peyton gave Shi this darling bracelet.

Those girls are so cute.

I had to run over to my peony bush to snap a pic of this beauty:
Finally! Mid June. It's been a crazy wet summer so far, so I'm glad they finally decided to bloom. I'm just hoping the hail will stay away now.

I also finished up trek journals. 350.

I'm hoping to do a post soon with the details on how I made them... for future reference, and to share. I think they turned out awesome.

Coming up:
Britt and Scarlett arrive tomorrow.
Wicked with the girls tomorrow night.
Grandma and Grandpa S. coming this weekend.
Taylor and Lynnea arriving Saturday.
Mar's last regular season swim meet Saturday (she'll miss one during trek).
Lolo's "farewell" Sunday (she is so so nervous! Pray for her!).
Father's Day.
Trek for Bill, Mar and I next Wednesday through Saturday.
One-and-a-half-week countdown and last minute to-dos before Shi heads to England.

19 Years Ago Today.

Shilo Louise (aka Shi Shi and/or Lolo) came into the world.

The world is a better place because of her. And she's only just begun.

Yesterday we celebrated a little early, since this morning was filled with Mar's swim meet, and tonight Lolo is heading downtown with her friends.

Dinner at Red Robin (it's beginning to be a tradition).

Chocolate Raspberry Crash Cake.

Birthday kisses.

A successful blowing out of the candles.

We chatted about how she will be in England for her next birthday. We will still celebrate!
Love you, Shilo! I am so blessed to be your mum!

Celebrating 50 Years.

I have been so busy lately, I've had the pics for this post hanging out on my desktop for weeks.
Today I'm gitt'n 'er done.

Clear back in May (I seriously can't believe we're almost halfway through June), the day after Scarlett's Birthday + party, we had a party to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Bill's parents. My SIL Angela did all the coordinating and planning, and wanted to make sure EVERYONE in the family would be there. Initially I told her Lex and Jason wouldn't be able to make it (plane tickets from TX are pricey!), but Ange was determined to have them there. In the end, we all pitched in for the tickets to offset the pricey-ness, and I was THRILLED to get to see them!

Jeff and his girlfriend Dayna came from Boise, and Russ and Sarah came from St. George (my MIL didn't think they would be there... SURPRISE!)

Angela had arranged an all-day date itinerary for her parents, with their final destination to a church by her home. I'm pretty sure they knew something was up, but the real surprise for them was having EVERYONE there. The family all assembled to help with set-up and dinner prep.

Scarlett was ready to party for a second day in a row.

Waiting for the surprise... shhhh....

Happy Anniversary!

The first thing on the agenda was to get some family pictures, so we all headed outside.

Austin is pro at multitasking...

Wonderful Sweet Scarlett was NOT in good picture-taking form.
Maybe the fact that we tried taking our/her pics last had something to do with it?

She was happy as punch to NOT be taking pictures...

After the pictures, we headed back inside for dinner, teary-eyed toasts, and a video Ange and Matt had put together.

Taylor sang I Can't Help Falling In Love With You...  that kid has some serious talent.

It was so great to have everyone together to celebrate this amazing couple!
A huge thank you to Angela for her hard work to make it happen!

After we cleaned up and packed up, we lingered to visit in the parking lot.
My girls had fun with the fish-eye effect on our camera.

I am so grateful for these amazing people I call family.
I love you guys!
