Memorial Day weekend.

I spent nearly a month in UT to keep an eye on the building of our house. I spent the first week at my parent's house, then spent a week at Britt's, then a week at Shi's, then Bill came into town and we went back to mi madre y padre's casa. If I don't add that little detail in here, I will never remember this season of floating.

Sunday, May 30

My parents love to snap pics of their visitors on their front step, especially on Sundays before we walk to church.

After church we stopped by my mom's friend's home to see her flowers. I think my mom had been watering them while her friend was out of town. I have heard about and seen this amazing woman's flowers for years as she has shared beautiful cut flowers with my mom.

I have to say, flowers (and pictures of flowers that I have personally appreciated) make me happy.

These irises were so beautiful.

Then we made the drive to the cemetery to visit Jana's grave.

That evening we headed to Matt and Lia's to celebrate Christian's high school graduation.

We always have the yummiest food at their house. It was so fun to be a part of the celebrating.

Congratulations, Christian!

Monday, May 31

We gathered at Riverton Park for a picnic with the Syddall grandparents and extended family.

The weather couldn't have been more perfect. We found some large, leafy, shady trees to set up under for the day. After a little while, we all started noticing tiny worms... in the shade cover... on the tables... on the chairs. Apparently it was some moth or insect's time of propagation and emergence. We did our best to keep the food covered and to flick those little nasties away from us.
Other than that, the perfect day.

(That cleavage... my apologies. I have to post this cute pic of CalB with his Twizzler, tho)

It was a pretty warm day for the end of May (as seen in L's flushed cheeks), but after a long winter in a basement, it was so lovely to play and relax (and worm-flick) in the warmth of blue skies and sunshine.

I realized I neglected to snap hardly any pics of Britt and Austin, so this is about it. I really need to up my photo-taking game.

That evening we crashed Britt and Austin's neighborhood gathering. I'm sure there were a few people wondering who we were, but it was fun.

That evening these two cute cousins had fun in the bath, washing away the day's dirt, stickiness, and germs ;-)

It was a fantastic day spent with some of my very favorite people. I love them all.

Scarlett turns 7.

I was lucky to be in town for Wonderful Sweet Scarlett's birthday. It was fun to spend some time with her that day, help a little with the party set-up, and watch the fun unfold.

Scarlett was so excited about her new roller blades her mom and dad gave her. She had already started to master some skills - I was so impressed.

I love how Scarlett loves to decorate her surroundings, and how her momma encourages her creativity and artistic abilities.

Britta throws the best parties and puts a lot of time into planning and gathering all the items needed to make the celebrating fun. This was a Pajama Party - the guests decorated a pillow case, had pizza and soda for dinner, and after the cake and presents, watched a movie and had popcorn and candy.

Britt also made this amazing cake:

That girl has skills.

LoKoCalB came to help celebrate.

CalB discovered Red Vines.
I think they were a big thumbs up.

He also got a bath due to his love of Red Vines.
How nice of Britt to have the cutest towel for him to borrow.

The party was a huge success.
Happy 7th, beautiful Scarlett ♥
