Moving day at last.

Saturday, August 28

Bill had flown to CO so he and Tay could load up the U-Haul trucks and trailers on Saturday. We wanted to make sure we were out of the storage units by the end of the month. I stayed in UT - my best move ever {wink}. Those men (+ local friends + paid loaders) worked their hineys off. The favorite quote of the day, made by one of our paid loaders and shared with me by Tay, which we have used over and over since, was,

"Hey Bill, you have a lot of sh*#%!"

(Taylor replaced that last word with "shiz," so that's what we use when we reference this quote). I have had it confirmed to me over and over as I have unpacked and organized that this is a true statement.

 Sunday, August 29

Bill and Taylor each drove a U-Haul (the biggest truck they have) + a trailer north on I-25, across the plains of WY on I-80, down into the SL valley. They parked them at Bill's parents' home that evening.

Monday, August 30

Bill and I went to our closing that morning around 10am.

**This pic of our house was taken in early Nov - I had neglected to snap one prior to that**

We were told that we couldn't move in until everything had cleared - around 4pm. Being the thrifty people we are, we wanted to get the U-Hauls back that evening so we wouldn't have to pay for another day. We had hired some unloaders, recruited help from family (Rob, Matt, and Kevin; Austin, Kody), and had a lot of members from our new ward there to help.

Everything was unloaded by 6:30pm.

Bill got the trucks and trailers back, then came home and assembled Mar's bed.

We, and all our shiz, were FINALLY in our own home together for the first time in 10.5 months. Bill and I slept on our mattress on the floor for another month while I painted our bed, but it felt so good to be IN.

Feels like home to me.

Britt's Baby Sprinkle.

 Tuesday, August 24

Shi and Ashlyn threw a Baby Sprinkle for Britt.

We met up with everyone at the Kneaders in Saratoga Springs.

It's always fun to get together to celebrate a new baby and to catch up with family and friends.

These two darling expectant mommas showing off their baby bumps... cutest thing ever.

We are so excited to meet this new little soul.

The Paull's big move.

 Wednesday, August 18

I flew to AL to help Lex and Jason with their big move to UT.

YES. Lex and Jason moved to Utah.

We were so happy when they told us that Jason had been head-hunted to a company there. I was excited to have them closer, since our move to UT only made AL further away.

My flight was an adventure all on it's own, starting with a delay.

I was supposed to fly from SLC to TX, then to AL, but I was concerned that I wouldn't make my connection because of the delay. An airline rep switched my flight to go through DEN (back home again), then on to AL.

The SLC Airport is in the middle of a big re-do, so you have to walk a million steps to get to the gates in the first place, but this was a whole new adventure as I was told to board the plane to DEN. I walked down a ramp to... a bus.

The bus took me (and 3-4 others) here:

There were a total of 6 passengers on the plane. As she boarded the plane, a young woman asked, "Is this going to Denver?" I told her that's where I was headed. Apparently she was just as surprised as I was at the small, old, worn airplane with only 6 passengers aboard haha.

There were sunnier skies in DEN. I had a little layover, so grabbed some food and chilled for a bit. The Denver airport was familiar and comfortable.

I was happy to see the plane to AL was a bit newer.

Once I had arrived in AL, I waited for my luggage. It hadn't made the switch when I did, so I was worried if I would find it. Interestingly enough, the flight from Houston from my original itinerary had been very delayed also, so it actually arrived after I did by about 15 minutes, and out came my luggage. Phew!

Thursday, August 19
I loved waking up to this cute face the next morning:

M loves his chocolate frosted donuts. Especially the frosting ;-)

We packed up and cleaned up.

Lex snapped a few pics of their home. They have loved their time in AL and made so many good friends, I'm sure they will miss them.

Friday, August 20

Jason drove the truck, I drove with Lex and the kids in their car. We left early Friday morning with a hope to make it to Lincoln, NE. We made a couple of stops with the kids along the way.

Our main play stop was in Kansas City, MO. We had googled a playground or park that would be somewhat close to the freeway, and unfortunately our first attempt (above pic) was like a history park... or something. We got out, walked for a bit trying to find a playground, then got back in the car for attempt #2. Our next stop was a success. **It was a very hot and humid day, which none of us were dressed for haha**

M made a friend. This darling girl followed him around the playground.

Once we were all sufficiently drenched in sweat and had stretched our legs a bit, we climbed back into the car on our quest for Lincoln.

M and Brielle were SO HAPPY to be at the hotel that evening. M loved the elevator and using the card to open the doors to the rooms. I hung out with B while Lex and Jase went to pick up dinner.

Saturday, August 21
We headed out the next morning to drive across NE and WY to UT.

We made it! These are all the wonderful people that came to help Lex and Jase move into a {temporary} townhome in Syracuse.

You can read more about the move from Lex's perspective here.

Welcome to Utah!
